This is a huge, 3D sculpture made of paper. Total dimensions: 31”X42”X38”. Jen Stark has the patience of a saint to sit and hand cut all of those pieces of paper.
“When I first stumbled upon designer Nathan Vincent’s work, I immediately knew I’d found something unique. Using crochet as a method to make traditionally masculine objects, Vincent challenges feminine and masculine stereotypes. In this Q&A, the artist talks about his beginnings, an upcoming collaboration with Jonathan Adler, and his fabric urinal.”
A really interesting public art installation: go to the kiosk and get a key that unlocks 24 places around the city that you have to discover using clues on the website.
An artist on LSD: these pictures were apparently done during a CIA experiment during which an artist was given 100 mL (I think is what it’s supposed to be, because it can’t be microliters and I don’t know what a uL is) and was then told to draw a lab assistant several times over the progression of the drug. It’s a pretty fascinating progression. The picture I’ve attached is from the height of the drugs effects. He made an extreme jump from simple, sloppy line drawings to this intricate, abstract piece. In my opinion, he would be much more successful if he always drew while on LSD because his before and after pictures are rather boring.
